Collecting Donations for Victims of Hurricane Katrina
The Scout Slogan is "do a good turn daily" and today, Troop 510 developed a plan to help the citizens of the gulf coast now being sheltered in the Atlanta area to live up to that slogan. We would like to offer a special thanks to the manager of the Butler Creek Kroger on Highway 41 at Acworth Due West for allowing us the opportunity to collect needed items at their storefront. And of course, thank-you to all the Kroger customers who donated needed items and money. Your generosity was so overwhelming that we had to use our troop trailer to move the huge quantity of donations. In addition to the many items received, Acworth citizens donated a total of $958.00 at the door. Our Scouts used 638.00 of that money to immediately purchase 490 items from Kroger that are listed as needed by the Red Cross and MUST Center. All donations of food and personal items will be delivered to the MUST Center on Monday September 5th for distribution to the centers housing those in need from the gulf coast. The remaining monetary donations of $320.00 will be presented to Cobb County Disaster Relief Services.
Pictures of the delivery of items will be posted following presentation to the MUST Center.
